The desert of Guadix and the Tabernas desert share the same aridity but belong to completely different stories. The first is a geological landscape of millions of years, shaped by erosion in a sedimentary basin that today is part of the Granada Geopark. The second is a natural set that in the sixties attracted Sergio Leone and a generation of filmmakers who found in Almería the Wild West they were looking for. This excursion covers both in a single day from Granada.

The day starts in Guadix, where an expert guide introduces the geological reading of the badlands, the reddish earth formations that characterize this region and that reach a scale hard to find in Europe in the Geopark. From there, the journey continues by bus to the Tabernas Desert, in the province of Almería, to enter the Oasys MiniHollywood Park. The original sets of spaghetti western movies coexist with live duel shows, a zoological reserve, and a pool area.
